On November 6, 2025, the Association for Support and Education in Chiapas A.C. (AECH A.C.) officially inaugurated the educational project “Education Without Barriers” in the community of Santo Tomás, Chiapas.
This important event marked the beginning of an initiative focused on bringing basic education closer to children and young people who, due to the conditions of their community, faced significant difficulties accessing a nearby and adequate school.
The inauguration represents the result of weeks of collaborative work between the community, teachers, and members of AECH A.C., who joined efforts to restore a space that now serves as a classroom for the students participating in the projec
During the first meetings with parents and community members, an urgent need became clear: creating accessible educational opportunities for their children. Many families shared their concerns about the long distances children had to travel to attend school, as well as the lack of proper educational spaces within the community itself.
Committed to responding to this need, AECH A.C. promoted the creation of this community educational project, allowing children in Santo Tomás to begin or continue their studies in a safer and more accessible environment.
As part of the inauguration, basic educational supplies were also distributed to support the students in their learning process. The children received books, notebooks, pencils, coloring materials, and other essential school supplies that will contribute to their academic development throughout the project.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by families from the community, members of the association, and the lead teacher of the project, Lic. Pablo Cantoral, who will guide and support the students throughout the “Education Without Barriers” program.
For some students, this project represented their very first experience with formal education; for others, it was the opportunity to continue a dream that once seemed out of reach.
Thanks to the collective effort and support of the community, “Education Without Barriers” is now a reality benefiting more than 30 children and young people in Santo Tomás.
At AECH A.C., we reaffirm our commitment to continuing to expand access to education in vulnerable communities throughout Chiapas, creating opportunities and spaces where learning can transform lives.
